At a time when so many young adults live at home, with no job and no prospects, joining the RAF has never seemed a better idea.
Apart from secure, well-paid employment with free sports facilities and gym membership, free medical and dental care, subsidised food and accommodation, and 6 weeks paid holiday every year, we also give you the chance to complete a UK recognised trade apprenticeship while you’re training and working in the RAF.
Best of all, you’ll be part of a team – living and working alongside people who are fit, keen and reliable. People just like you.
We strongly encourage all our personnel to take up sport. If you are already a keen and experienced footballer, you could represent your base against other stations or play for the RAF against other Armed Forces. You could also add to your coaching qualifications – with up to 80% of the costs paid by the RAF.
Or you could try something different, and join one of our many other sports clubs. We sponsor our most talented members to compete at the highest level, not only by giving them time off to train, but also by subsidising travel, entry fees and equipment costs. Some of our people even take part in the Olympics!
Everyone joins the RAF as a member of a particular trade group or specialisation, and the entry requirements vary – but for most of them you don’t need a university degree, or even A levels. For some trades, all we ask as a minimum is Grade G in GCSE English and Maths, or an acceptable equivalent (including Key Skills at the appropriate level).
