Dagenham & Redbridge apprentices were recently invited along to the University College of Football Business (UCFB) Wembley for an experience day.
A mixture of talks, problem solving activities, presentation skills and a tour of the facilities and stadium gave the group a real flavour of what’s on offer with UCFB.
The players were given access to the press room, where England manager Roy Hodgson fields difficult questions from the media, for a role-play activity taking questions from their peers.
The education and development that is undertaken by apprentices as part of the ASE programme will result in potential avenues for sporting careers. This was reinforced by UCFB’s Relationship Manager Cara Smith who said: “Sport is a growth industry with around 15 million people in Europe working in sport-related employment.”
“Qualifications alone will not get you a career in sport. There is a need to be networking, working in the industry to get the contacts and good references that will prove you are passionate, determined and have the drive to make your career in sport.”
UCFB offer University degrees in the football, sport and leisure industries. Football Coaching & Management has recently been added to their range of courses being offered.
With inspiring campus sites situated within Wembley Stadium and Burnley Football Club, students live, learn and work in classrooms overlooking the pitch.
