Puma Youth Alliance Honours 2008-09

Congratulations go to Wrexham (North West), Chesterfield (North East), Swindon Town (South West) and Southend Utd (South East) as Puma Youth Alliance Champions of their respective Conference divisions and to Grimsby Town as winners of the Puma Youth Alliance Cup.

Buoyed by an outstanding rearguard effort, the Red Dragons finished the season four points clear of nearest North West rivals Burnley after an outstanding run of form which saw them avoid defeat for over 6 months.

The Spireites took the North East Conference title with nearest challengers Hull City’s final day win at Boston Utd proving academic.

Chesterfield Head of Youth Dave Bentley was understandably pleased with his team’s efforts this term and hailed their outstanding spirit;

“The lads have played their heart out this season, we’ve kept them together as a group and I’m proud to see them finish top of the pile in a competitive league.”

In the South, Swindon Town and Southend Utd fought off fierce competition from Plymouth Argyle and QPR respectively to top the Southern Conferences.

The Robins in particular impressed averaging nearly three goals a game in a hugely successful season for Paul Bodin’s men.

And finally congratulations go to Neil Woods’ Grimsby Town who pipped QPR to the Puma Youth Alliance Cup ensuring the Rangers Apprentices finished the season empty handed.
