Match Day

Match: Stoke City v West Bromwich Albion

Early start, up at 6:45am! We left for West Brom at 8.15. I was feeling quite optimistic about the game and we started promisingly with us having the better of the play for the opening ten minutes. After this the game became a bit more even. Unfortunately, though we were very comfortable, a bit a slack defending and a goalkeeping mix up thrown in all for good measure meant that West Brom broke the deadlock after around twenty minutes.

The goal seemed to provide the West Brom lads with a lot more confidence and they were well on top until the closing stages in the first half when we started to get a foot-hold back in the game with some decent football.

At half time we got a stern talking to from Aidy who voiced his disappointment about our performance so far in a fairly straight forward manner.

At the start of the second half all the team were up for it and ready to try and get back into the game but our hopes were dented just five minutes into the second half when a long ball was played over our defence and a West Brom striker nipped in to finish easily. The second goal completely deflated us and as much as we applied ourselves effort wise, we didn’t really get back in the game and the best of the play came from West Brom. Needless to say at the end of the game our coach Aidy wasn’t too happy with us or the performance but said that he was saving his views of the game for Monday, so I’m sure we will be in for a mouthful after our overall performance today! Great can’t wait for training on Monday now.
