Manchester United and Newcastle United shared the spoils at Carrington last weekend in blustery conditions.
In an entertaining first half, despite the windy conditions, the Red Devils started brightly but it was the visitors who opened the scoring on 11th minutes when midfielder Greg McDermott took advantage of some haphazard defending by the home side to net his ninth goal of the campaign.
Despite the early setback the home side continued to press forward and were rewarded with an equaliser on 27 minutes. Paul Pogba heading home a Nick Ajose cross at the near post, after the Reds had been awarded a free kick on the right side of the penalty area 25 yards from goal.
Norwegian hit-man Joshua King then nearly completed the Reds redemption but he saw his effort rattle the crossbar after Ajose had sent him clear of the Newcastle backline.
Neither side could add to the score-line in the second half, with the result leaving both sides in second and third spots in their respective Academy divisions.
