Keane Rewards Young Black Cats

Martyn Waghorn

Roy Keane has added four more names to his professional roster for next season by rewarding local lads Martyn Waghorn, Jordan Henderson, Jack Colback and Nathan Luscombe with professional contracts.

18-year-old Waghorn has made four first team appearances since his debut on Boxing Day vs Manchester United and has recently impressed on his return to the U18 squad in their successful FA Youth Cup run.

Speaking to the Club website, Roy Keane said:

“We have to reward the players when they do well. Martyn has been back training with us this week after going back to the Youth Team for the cup game. That can be a test of character in itself but his attitude has been spot on.”

He added:

“You have got to look after people and Martyn’s not the only one to have signed a deal. Whether it’s a first team player or one of the kids, you have to be fair to them and look after them.”
