Peterborough United youth team skipper Peter Grant has been awarded a one-year professional contract at London Road.
The centre-back joins fellow second-year Apprentice Kgosi Nthle in earning a professional deal this season.
Grant said: “I’m delighted, but the hard work starts now if I’m to get to the next level and play with the first team.”
Goalkeeper Alex Archer, strikers Jacob Joyce and Dan Evans, plus midfielders Ben Seymour-Shove and Arron Wickham will be released when at the end of their Apprenticeships in June.
“It is the most difficult part of the job telling young players that they won’t be offered deals. It is tough for them and it is tough for us because we know the feelings that the players go through,” said Posh Head of Youth, Dave Robertson.
“However it is great for the couple of lads who are going to stay with us. They have both done very well.”
Blue Square South Club Boreham Wood have shown an interest in taking Evans and Joyce, while Wickham is currently on work experience at Blue Square North outfit Bishop’s Stortford. Seymour-Shove is on a similar deal at Ryman League club Soham Town.
