Match: Stoke City vs R.A.F
Again I started on the bench in what was a very young team consisting of mainly schoolboys who have been offered an apprenticeship for the upcoming season. The game was 0-0 at half time, we had the better of the chances and the R.A.F had missed a penalty that they had hit high over the bar. Myself and Brunty came on after 60 minutes and after a good passage of play Brunty lobbed the ‘keeper only to find his effort hit the upright but he was on the ball and buried the it in the back of the net on the rebound.
The second soon followed when Brunty and me linked up and Brunty neatly finished the ball into the bottom corner. After this Brunty planted his foot awkwardly when he went to turn on the standing leg and aggravated an old knee injury which resulted in him being substituted. We carried on playing well as a team and our efforts were rewarded when, after a good through ball, I converted a penalty and made it a 3-0 result minutes before the final whistle.
