When I last wrote the weather wasn’t the best, which caused us to carry out a lot of training indoors. The game vs Bristol City was called off for obvious reasons, with the snow causing problems up and down the country.
Therefore our next game after the snow had cleared was against Cardiff City. Somehow we managed to lose 2-0, but we put out a very young side with the likes of our second year scholars being involved with the reserves a lot now, so that was a positive.
We moved on and worked on what went wrong from that game and then put it right against Watford the week later winning 2-0, with Reece Hales and a trialist getting on the score sheet.
The following week we faced MK Dons away, which ended in a 2-2 draw. We started the game well, but then had a 20 minute poor spell within the first half, and we went in at half time 1-0 down.
However, Steve Spooner (Youth team coach) got a firm word across in the half time team talk and we went out and produced a much better second half performance; I scored and penalty then Mitchell Hancox got an equaliser when we were trailing 2-1.
The lads were on a high going into the game the following week against Charlton away because we obviously hadn’t lost in 2 games. Although we knew Charlton would be a very tough away day.
We took a young side once again and gave some lads that hadn’t played much this season a start which was a good positive for them to show the staff a good performance, and a good performance they did. We won the game 2-1 with two goals from Mitchell Hancox that cannot stop scoring at the moment being our top scorer with 11 I think.
Also this week we had a visit from the LFE and Sporting Chance, which I must say was fantastic. They produced a great presentation that was all about getting help from them if involved with gambling, drugs, alcohol etc.
There were two guys that were so open with their previous years of being involved with those that I mentioned above, I’m sure that the lads learnt more than one thing from the presentation and it opened up some eyes of how lucky we actually are and the great position we are in.
We welcome Norwich City this weekend to wast hills which we know will definitely be a tough game as always, but again the lads are on a high unbeaten in three and will be up for the game. I will update you soon with our upcoming fixtures and also a little trip that may be coming up. I say little –unbelievable more like!…
