Five former Apprentices have been identified as being star turns for their Club’s by the Manchester Evening News in the paper’s ‘Half Term Report – The Season So Far’.
The report which focuses on Clubs in the Greater Manchester area has highlighted ex Tranmere Rovers Apprentices Chris Dagnall and Mike Jones as two players who have excelled for Rochdale and Bury respectively this term, while the report also praises the contribution’s of Joe Thompson (also Rochdale) and Macclesfield Town duo Jonny Brain and John Rooney.
Dagnall, who came through Tranmere’s Youth ranks during the 2005-06 season has averaged a goal every two games this term to help propel Dale’s promotion charge, while Jones another former Rover has proved to one of the Shaker’s best players since his arrival at Gigg Lane at the start of last season.
Thompson, a former League Two Apprentice of the Year like Dagnall is showing excellent form as he seeks to end Dale’s 40 year wait for promotion from League Two while Rooney and Brain have shown their prowess at different ends of the pitch in an encouraging campaign for the Silkmen.
