Today was the day that we were going to get told about our future at the Club. We got in early at 9:00am only to be told that we weren’t getting the news until after dinner so it was an anxious few hours waiting around. Finally the time had come to found out the verdict and what our future was to be at Stoke City.
We went in one by one, Jimmy Phillips (winger), Tom Thorley (Midfielder), Danzelle St Louis Hamilton (Goalkeeper) and me (all pictured above), and gladly for all four of us it was good news. We were told that we were all going to be offered a 12 month professional contract with the view on sending us out on loan to gain that all important and needed experience from playing against a higher standard of players and the more physical aspect of the game.
I’m glad that all four of us had been offered contracts as this is a reward of all the hard work that we have put in over the two years. But I know that if I want to reach the standard I’m aiming for I need to remain focussed and determined to get better, and now is the time when the real hard work starts.
