Apprentices Put Pen to Paper

Two second year ASE Apprentices, Danny Hone of Lincoln City and Charlie Howard of Gillingham, have put in a string of impressive performances that has landed both their first professional contracts.

Youth Team captain Charlie (pictured left), last week signed a two year contract at Priestfield after making quick work of his progression from youth ranks to first team debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match last month.

Gills Manager Mark Stimson told the Club website:

“Charlie has good ability and is improving as a player all the time; he’s very committed and can be the future of Gillingham.”

Red Imps starlet, Danny Hone also signed a two-and-a-half year professional contract after playing in his first-team debut only last month.

The gaffer has been very pleased with what he has seen of the centre-half since being brought on as a substitute in the home game against Chester City at the beginning of November. Danny has been rewarded for his progress sealing his future at Lincoln until 2010.

Speaking to the Club’s website, Danny said:

“It’s every boy’s dream to sign your first professional contract and it feels really good.”
