Skysports.com has reported that Ajax are considering a move for Crystal Palace starlet Nathaniel Clyne.
Full-back Clyne is thought to be a ready-made replacement for the Dutch club’s own talented right-back Gregory van der Wiel who is attracting interest from a clutch of Europe’s top club’s including Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Clyne came through Palace’s youth ranks and Apprenticeship programme before turning professional in 2008. Since then he has made over 100 appearances for the Eagles and has been capped by England at various youth levels.
The 20-year-old full-back is thought to have come to the attention of Ajax via former Eagle Edgar Davids who joined their supervisory board earlier this summer.
Clyne currently has 12 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park. Should he choose to run down his deal, Palace would be due compensation in the event of him joining another English club – however that rule would not apply if he moved abroad.
In that situation the Eagles would only get training costs for the player which would be worked out by the number of years he has been at Palace.
