Herd’s Hopes For O’s Clash

Johnny Herd

Southend United left-back Johnny Herd is looking forward to making his first start of the season against Leyton Orient.

19 year old Herd looks set to be recalled for the visit of the O’s following the departure of John White.

A product of the Shrimpers Youth set-up, Herd made 11 appearances last term and now hopes that he can gain a more sustained run in the starting eleven.

Speaking to the Club’s official website he said;

“I really enjoyed breaking into the squad last season. Ultimately I was disappointed not to have played more in the end but hopefully I can take this chance now. I’ve not been involved much this season but I want to show the manager what I can do.”

“The team have been playing well but they haven’t won which is the whole point. Hopefully we can get our first win of the season against Orient and then go from strength to strength.”
