Four of Norwich City’s 2nd-year Apprentices featured in their 1-0 victory over Gillingham on Tuesday night as the Canaries progressed to the quarter-finals of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Apprentices George Francomb (pictured) and Tom Adeyemi completed the full 90 minutes for City and were joined by fellow Academy prospects David Stephens and Josh Dawkin who joined the action as second half substitutes.

In a youthful line-up Manager Paul Lambert also included former ASE graduates Rhoys Wiggins (Apprentice at Crystal Palace) and Chris Martin while 1st-year professional & Eire U19 captain Danny Kelly was an unused substitute.

Speaking after the game, a delighted Lambert, said:

“It was a terrific performance. The young lads came in and did terrific, this is the team we had to field due to injuries but I’d love to know the average age out there, there’s probably only Doc (Gary Doherty) taking the age up.”
