Jamie White has rejoined Southampton after completing a three-month loan stay at Eastleigh.
The youngster who completed the ASE programme while at the Club suffered a serious injury last term and has used his spell at Eastleigh to help recover his sharpness after a long lay-off.
Spitfires boss Ian Baird was hopeful of extending the loan deal but the young forward has decided to head back to St Mary’s to try and force his way into first team contention.
Speaking to the Southern Daily Echo, Baird clarified the situation saying:
“It’s a weird one really, I said to Jamie that I would like to keep him at Eastleigh, but after three months we can’t loan him month-to-month any more and we would have to take him until the end of the season.”
“Jamie’s taken advice off his agent and he wants to give himself every chance of impressing the new manager (Alan Pardew) and I don’t blame him for that.”
“He’s been out injured for a long time and he wants to give it a bit of a crack there.”
