Crewe Alexandra youngster Ashley Westwood hit a second-half brace as Alex came from 3-1 down to draw against Torquay United.
After last week’s disappointment of surrendering a two goal advantage in the dying minutes at Chesterfield, the Railwaymen dug deep to take a point at home and stretch Torquay’s winless run to nine games.
Mark Ellis gave the visitors a two-goal advantage, heading home two Kevin Nicholson set-pieces.
Crewe’s Lee Bell blasted a penalty over after Guy Branston handled but Clayton Donaldson slotted in to make it 2-1.
Eunan O’Kane fired in Torquay’s third but Crewe’s player of the year from last season, Westwood, volleyed home before slotting a penalty to earn Alex a share of the points.
Crewe’s last 3 games have now seen 22 goals and yet another see-saw encounter left Dario Gradi to comment:
“The Chairman will have to put up the prices for this entertainment.”
