TOWIE Star Mark Wright Signs For Thurrock

Former Southend Utd Apprentice and current The Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright has signed for Blue Square South strugglers Thurrock.

The 24-year-old left back who is the brother of former Charlton and Scunthorpe midfielder Josh, was unavailable to make his home debut for the club in last night’s 3-0 defeat at home to Dartford because of filming commitments.

He joins the club from Ryman Division One North side Heybridge Swifts and Thurrock insist that his signing is not a ‘gimmick’.

“He’s played for the England non-league team before, and he has played for us before,” Thurrock press officer Tony Flood told the Thurrock Gazzette.

“He played here four seasons ago under Hakan Hayrettin and was one of the best left backs we have had in my opinion.”

“He says he is serious about playing here, and he is committed to play for us at least until January.”

“I know there has been some talk from rival clubs on the internet that it is a gimmick signing, but that is not the case.”

“He is still in his mid 20s and he strengthens our team in a position we need to strengthen, and we hope he will do well.”

Thurrock have also announced the signing of Gillingham defender Callum Davies, 18, on-loan, while just last week they brought in more experienced hands Drewe Broughton and Bertie Brayley as they attempt to climb out of the relegation zone.

They currently sit 21st in The Blue Square South with just two wins from their first 14 league matches this season.
