Blackpool midfielder Liam Tomsett is hoping to force his way into Paul Ince’s first-team plans after catching the eye during Pool’s pre-season friendly at Kendal on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old who came through the club’s apprenticeship scheme has been with the club for close to 10 years and is hoping to catch the managers eye after spending last term on loan at Blue Square Premier outfit Hyde.
The youngster, who plays in the position that Ince knows well from his own playing days, made his Blackpool debut in 2011 under Ian Holloway.
That remains Tomsett’s solitary first-team appearance to date though more performances like Tuesday’s should help him add to that tally.
“I thought ‘Teddy’ was the best player on the park on Tuesday,” said Ince. “He showed that he wanted to be out there in a Blackpool shirt.”
“His tempo was excellent, he covered a lot of ground and he made all the right decisions. He showed what I expect of someone connected to this football club and had the correct attitude.”
