Burnley’s Terry Pashley says he is focusing on the next game of his temporary reign and not his own future at the club.
The popular youth-team coach was appointed caretaker manager after the departure of Eddie Howe earlier this month.
And Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Blackpool, his first game in charge, has given the Claret’s a chance to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they face Bristol City at Ashton Gate tomorrow night.
And despite receiving plaudits from the Turf Moor faithful, stand-in boss Pashley remains focused on the job in hand, “When the chairmen need to speak to me they speak to me.”
“They have kept me in informed on what they are doing, but I just want to concentrate on the football.”
He continued:
“I had a few texts over the weekend from the chairmen congratulating the boys. But in terms of the situation nothing has changed from my point of view.”
“I am just concentrating on the football and the next game is Bristol and for Burnley Football Club, Bristol City is the most important game of the season.”
Pashley also maintained that whoever the board announces as Howe’s successor, will inherit a squad with real quality.
“There are a lot of good players in the squad. All they have to do is keep showing how good they can be on a match-to-match basis,”
“There are a lot of good players out there, not just the ones who played on Saturday but the lads who didn’t play.”
