Scunthorpe United have completed the signing of Stockport County captain Michael Raynes for an undisclosed fee.
The 22 year old became the Iron’s third signing of the transfer window in a deal that was completed just within the 5pm deadline.
The central defender has been at Edgeley Park since starting his Apprenticeship in 2004 and was once the subject of a bid by Liverpool.
Speaking about the signing, Raynes admitted:
“We pushed it until the last minute but it’s good to finally get it done.”
“It’s been in the pipeline for a while and it’s taken time to sort out but I can’t wait to meet the rest of the lads. I came for my first proper look at the Club on Monday. I met the gaffer Nigel Adkins and I’m delighted to be here.”
“It’s a sad day for me to leave Stockport County but I think I’ve served my time there. I’d like to thank everyone for all they’ve done for me while I was there.”
“This is a new chapter in my life now and I’m looking forward to starting.”
