Proud To Be Stags Skipper

Scott Garner

Scott GarnerMansfield Town defender Scott Garner says he was proud to captain the Club for the first time last week.

The 19-year-old ex Leicester City Apprentice led the Stags out for the win over Altrincham at Field Mill.

Garner told the Club’s official website:

“It was a massive honour for me, I was very proud to be the captain of Mansfield Town. As soon as the gaffer said I was going to be captain, I was buzzing really. I couldn’t wait to get out there and prove my worth.”

Garner has impressed since joining Mansfield in January following a loan spell at Holdsworth’s former club Ilkeston.

The skipper gave the home side the lead midway through the first half with a close-range finish on Tuesday night. He partnered 17-year-old debutant Tom Naylor in the centre of defence and the pair helped keep a clean sheet.
