Speculation is mounting that Preston North End are closing in on the signing of Wycombe Wanderers winger Matt Phillips.
SkySports.com has reported that North End Manager Darren Ferguson is keen to add the highly-rated Phillips to his squad as he reshuffles his pack at Deepdale.
Phillips has come through the Youth ranks at Wycombe and he became the Club’s youngest ever goalscorer when he scored in an FA Cup tie with AFC Wimbledon.
The youngster was also part of a delegation of Football Apprentices to visit Downing Street last season to visit then PM Gordon Brown at a TUC Apprenticeship gala, and in December 2008 won League Football Education’s Apprentice of the Month Award.
A number of Clubs have been keeping tabs on Phillips’ progress with the versatile winger impressing at Adams Park.
However, Preston are hoping to lure him to Deepdale and they are believed to have tabled a bid for Phillips.
