Leyton Orient striker Scott McGleish has praised the work conducted by LFE in arranging Competitive Edge Live.
Speaking on the day Scott, an event Ambassador, was involved in a lively panel forum alongside Robin Gargrave (YMCAfit), Phil Cook (MMU) and Jane (RAF) which was hosted by Katharine Merry.
And McGleish who is already a fully qualified electrician told those present that they should start to plan for the future.
“It’s becoming tougher and tougher out there in the real world to make a start career wise so any of the skills and qualifications that the Apprentices obtain while they are on programme is key to their success after it.”
“The lads today are lucky because their Apprenticeship gives them transferable skills but it’s up to them to make the next step and take it forward from there.”
I’m an example of someone who has come the other way I was qualified as an electrician before I became a professional so I appreciate the need to have something to fall back on if things don’t work out.”
“While I’ve had a decent career I’ll still need to work when it all comes to an end so that gives me a viable option.”
