Oldham Keen To Keep Tarkowski

Oldham Athletic are hoping to fend off interest from Burnley and Brentford for young defender James Tarkowski.

The Latics offered the youngster a new deal last week which would extend his stay at the club until the summer of 2017, his current contract, which he only signed last June is set to expire in June 2015.

The 21-year-old came through the club’s apprenticeship programme and has made 88 appearances for the club, starring in last season’s FA Cup run.

Oldham say no deadline has been set for Tarkowski to agree the new deal, but hope he will sign as soon as possible.
