Billy McKay has pressed home his claims for first team inclusion at Northampton Town by netting a hat-trick in the Reserves.
The youngster, who joined the club from Leicester City after being released following a year as a professional at the Walkers Stadium, netted a hat-trick as the Cobblers second string fell to a 6- 4 defeat to Ipswich Town.
In an entertaining match Northampton got back to 4-3 after trailing 4-0 after 25 minutes and Sean Parrish was pleased with his teams application after a disappointing start.
Speaking to the Club website, he said;
“I was very disappointed with how we started the game and we were 4-0 down within 25 minutes.”
“We had nothing to lose in the second half, we played a bit more direct and upped the tempo and got the game back to 4-3.”
“Ipswich then went 5-3 ahead and although we pulled it back to 5-4 they scored again to make it 6-4. Overall though it was a very entertaining game but we know we need to do a lot better defensively.”
“Ipswich are a good side but having been 4-0 down I was really pleased with the players efforts in the second half.”
