Sheffield Wednesday Academy Manager Sean McAuley hopes that Liam Palmer can use his success on international level as a springboard towards a starting place in the Owls first-team.
Palmer, the Owls Academy Player of the Year, was a key member of Billy Stark’s Scotland U19 squad during the recent UEFA European U19 Championship elite qualifying round in Croatia.
And while the Scots narrowly missed out on progressing to the finals, Palmer enhanced his growing reputation with an eye catching display from an attacking midfield role in 4-0 win against Montenegro.
McAuley said:
“The Manager reported back that Liam did really well against Montenegro and that is encouraging. This is an exciting opportunity for him and hopefully he will continue to go from strength to strength.”
“Liam is developing well and has already featured on the substitutes bench under Alan Irvine and that’s encouraging.”
