Martin Sees Canaries Through

Chris Martin

Norwich City had Youth product Chris Martin to thank for their progression into the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last night.

In front of a crowd of 12,540 at Carrow Road, the youngster rifled home a low shot from 20 yards and it was his solitary strike that proved the difference between the teams.

In the only other moment of genuine excitement, another Academy product Tom Adeyemi picked up a poor goal-kick on the halfway line and sent it back towards goal – but Leon Legge sprinted back to clear it off the line.

However, for Chris Martin, the youngster will hope that his goal will set Norwich off on a run in the competition that emulates his own success in the competition.

While on a season-long loan at Luton Town last season the youngster was instrumental in the Hatters eventual triumph in the tournament against League One play-off winners Scunthorpe United.
