Grimsby Town boss Mike Newell has confirmed he is ready to offer teenage striker Chris Jones a contract.
Jones was released by Swansea City and has since been training with the Mariners where he has caught Newell’s eye.
The 19 year old impressed against Belgian side RRFC Montegnee early last week and Newell is set to offer the Welshman a deal.
Newell said:
“I’ve seen enough to think he’s got something and I think we’ll be looking at taking a chance with him.
“Chris was really lively on Wednesday in the first half and he impressed me. It wasn’t easy coming into a side that chopped and changed but he did well.”
