Loan Spell For Gray

Shrewsbury Town’s young striker Andre Gray has gone out on a month’s emergency loan to Blue Square Conference North Club Hinckley United.

Gray is a product of Town’s Youth system and earned a full pro contract at the end of last season.

Manager Paul Simpson believes that Gray has a chance to progress at the Club and hopes that the loan spell will continue his development:

“It’s been difficult for Andre as he came back from his loan spell with Telford and because of the players that we have available for us Andre was finding himself on the bench even for the Reserves.”

“We had a call from Hinckley to see if he will go on loan there and I think it will do him the world of good.”

“For me technically he isn’t quite there for our first team yet, we can all see the pace and the strength that he has got and that can be a threat, but at the end of that pace and strength there needs to be an end product.”

“We have worked with him all season on improving all aspects of his game and he now needs to go out and get games. I’m hoping that he goes to Hinckley, gets a good run of games over the month and we can keep monitoring him and see if he is showing enough to come back into our group and if there is enough there for next season that we can keep working with.”
