Walsall midfielder Jake Jones has signed a new contract at the Banks’ Stadium.
A local lad, Jones came through the club’s apprenticeship programme and signed his first professional contract last summer.
He enjoyed a successful loan spell at Redditch United during the course of the last campaign and that convinced Manager, Dean Smith, that he has what it takes to be a first-teamer with the Saddlers.
“He has earned the right to be a professional here,” Smith told the club’s website.
“He did well when he went out on loan to Redditch last season and now he needs to show that kind of form at this level.”
“It’s a big season ahead for him, very similar to the situation we had with George Bowerman this time last year. I hope that he takes his chance in the way that George did last season.”
“He’s a level-headed lad who knows what he has to do in the months ahead.”
