Ex-Tranmere Rovers Apprentice Mike Jones returned to haunt Rovers on Tuesday night as he hit an 81st minute winner for Bury.
The strike sealed a 2-1 victory for the Shakers after they had trailed at the interval.
The visitors took a 4th minute lead through youngster Craig Curran who fired home from the edge of the box.
However, missed opportunities came back to bite Rovers as Dave Worrall equalised in the 54th minute and Jones tucked home a winner with 9 minutes remaining.
Jones was released by Rovers in the summer of 2008 and has been a revelation since his move to Gigg Lane.
He signed a new deal with the Shakers this term and his strike condemns Rovers to their 9th defeat in 11 games.
