Home Park Trio Offered Pro Deals

Ben Gerring | Joe Mason | Ryan Brett

Argyle have offered professional contracts to three second year Apprentices who are all hoping to impress at Home Park.

Striker Joe Mason and defenders Ryan Brett and Ben Gerring will join the professional game as part of manager Paul Sturrock’s first-team squad next season.

Mason, who has represented Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level, was the top goal scorer in the Argyle Reserve team and central defender Gerring was the Apprentice to make the most Reserve team appearances last season.

Head of Youth Development, Gordon Bennett commented:

“All eight Apprentices – including Ashley Hodgkinson and Greg Moseley, who have been on work-experience loans at other Clubs in the last couple of months – should be congratulated on their achievements, on and off the pitch, during their two years at the Club.”

“In the Puma Youth Alliance they have only lost two league games over the two seasons put together. They were champions in 2007-08 and runners-up last season, and if they had won one of the games they drew, they would have been champions again.”

Brian McCaul, Lewis Edwards and Josh Grant have all been released.
