Joe O’Sullivan was an Apprentice at Crewe Alexandra between 2008 and 2010. On completion of his Apprenticeship the Club decided not to offer O’Sullivan a professional deal in the summer.
He is a teaching assistant at a secondary school and has signed for semi-professional side Witton Albion after a short spell at Colwyn Bay FC.
Joe O’Sullivan was part of Crewe Alexandra’s Youth team for two years in which he graduated from the ASE programme. The summer of 2010 saw Crewe release O’Sullivan and eight of his peers; a surprise decision given Crewe’s reputation for producing home grown players.
O’Sullivan has gone back to school to kick start a new career as a Teaching Assistant. Employed by Rudheath Community High School in Cheshire, his role is to provide guidance to the pupils who are on a ‘Learning Support Programme’. His primary focus is to offer one to one assistance during lessons.
I didn’t expect to find myself back in the classroom but when the opportunity popped up I couldn’t turn it down. I have grown into the role since I first started and I’ve already gained invaluable experience,” said O’Sullivan.
Assigned to a year group which he remains with throughout a day, he is able to nurture relationships with pupils and monitor their progress.
Outside class O’Sullivan’s extra-curricular activities have seen him installed at the heart of Witton Albion’s midfield where he is currently helping to propel the Club towards the Evo-Stik First Division North play-offs.
