Former Apprentices On The Mark

Several former Apprentices made an impact across The Football League at the weekend.

Steven Davies hit the second for Derby County as they maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 win over Doncaster.

Meanwhile, the Rams East Midlands rivals, Nottingham Forest, were handed a lifeline by a Lewis McGugan (pictured) penalty in their draw with Leicester City. McGugan’s strike the catalyst for Forest to fight back from 2-0 down to earn a point at the City Ground.

In League One a Sam Baldock hat-trick helped MK Dons to a 6-2 thrashing of Chesterfield. Preston North End had young forward Jamie Proctor to thank as they took all three points at home to Exeter City.

And Sheffield Wednesday bounced back from two consecutive league defeats at home to Notts County, with Gary Madine scoring the decisive goal.

In League Two, former Oldham youngster Lewis Alessandra made the points safe for Morecambe as they made it three wins in as many games to move up to fourth in the table.

Directly above the Shrimps are Gillingham who recorded a 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle. Young midfielder Luke Rooney scoring either side of two penalties from Danny Kedwell.
