Fabian Spiess Backed By Notts County Boss

Notts County manager Keith Curle insists that 19-year-old goalkeeper Fabian Spiess is ready for first-team action.

Spiess, 19, is likely to make his full debut in Tuesday’s League One meeting with Portsmouth following a head injury to Bartosz Bialkowski during Saturday’s defeat against Leyton Orient.

Bialkowski had a brain scan on Saturday and will have further tests.

“If Fabian is needed to play I have no hesitation in picking him whatsoever,” Curle told BBC Radio Nottingham.

“He coped very well on Saturday and handled it very well. One door closes and another one opens for Fabian.”

Bialkowski was taken to a London hospital following the match and doctors only allowed him to travel home after the results of a brain scan had been assessed.
