Daral Pugh has taken over as Head of Youth at Bury Football Club.
Welsh-born Pugh will take up the position with immediate affect and will launch himself straight into pre-season training taking charge of the youth team.
His last job was at Leeds United where he took on the role of Assistant Academy Manager, he left Elland Road in October 2010.
The Shakers new Head of Youth is also a former player with clubs such as Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Rotherham United, Cambridge United and Torquay United.
On his appointment, Pugh told the club’s website: “I came for the interview for the job last week and was very impressed with the people that I was speaking to.”
“The only difference with the youth team is that we have to produce players rather than a team. My job is to be pushing a player onto the first team rather than pushing a team on.”
“There is a lot of work but if everyone pulls in the right direction then its going to be enjoyable work. I’ll also be doing the reserves when they play.”
He added:
“It’s a really friendly looking club, and it’s a family club and I think we can produce some players here and that’s what I am looking forward to doing.”
Bury Manager Richie Barker commented:
“Daral is an extremely experienced coach, he has worked at the top level’s and we are sure he will give us the good the work within the youth department that we have known for a number of years.”
