Crewe Extend Contracts For Duo

Crewe Alexandra have given Adam Dugdale and Danny Shelley extensions to their contracts.

23 year old defender, Dugdale, has signed on until the end of the season while Shelley has signed until the summer of 2012.

Dugdale began his professional career at Crewe and dropped into non-league football before returning to the Alex in July.

“It’s all that I’ve been working towards and I feel like I’ve been rewarded for all of my hard work,” Dugdale told BBC Radio Stoke.

“The hard work doesn’t stop all of a sudden, it just makes me want to push on even more to try and cement a place in the team.”

“I’ve spent a lot of time on the bench so this is my chance to try and stay in the team.”

Dugdale, has made nine appearances during his second spell with Crewe and came off the bench to score the winning goal against local rivals Port Vale on 15th January.

With David Artell injured, he is now looks set to be given an opportunity to form a central defensive partnership with Patrick Ada and is expected to start against Aldershot on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Shelley has struggled for first-team football this season but his positive outlook has impressed Manager Dario Gradi enough to earn a new deal.
