Continuity The Key For Clarke

Clarke Carlisle believes that continuity will be the key for Burnley this season as they look to bounce back in to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

And despite losing crowd favourite Steve Fletcher to Wolves over the summer, Carlisle is confident about what lies ahead – citing the retention of close to 95% of last season’s squad as being key to the Clarets unbeaten start to the new campaign.

Speaking to LFE TV he said:

“All the greatest teams, the Arsenal’s, Liverpool’s and Man United’s have been borne of longevity and when you get that, especially in defensive areas and in the centre of midfield, these relationships are the key to forming a successful base to your side. That’s what we’re trying to do here and hopefully that will be the base of success for us.”

Currently fifth in the Championship, Burnley face local rivals Preston North End this weekend hoping to continue their push for promotion and Carlisle stresses that he fears no one:

“We know what quality we have at this Club and we know what we want to achieve and that’s what we’ll be trying to do. We’re fully rejuvenated after the summer and we’re ready to launch a really big attack on this league.”
