Northampton Town Academy graduate Shaun McWilliams has signed a new two-year contract with the League Two club.
McWilliams, now 23, is a product of the Cobblers academy and has gone on to establish himself as a key member of Jon Brady’s squad. The Northampton-born midfielder has racked up over 150 first-tam appearances since completing his two-year Apprenticeship in 2016.
Northampton Town manager Jon Brady expressed his delight at securing his services: “We are delighted to secure Shaun’s signature.
“He was excellent for us last season and is maturing and getting better and better as a player.
“We will continue to work hard with Shaun to help him continue that progress and development of his all round game and I think the chance to continue that work played a big part in his decision.
“We are not surprised there was interest in him this summer and being able to hold off that interest and secure his signature was important for us. We know he is happy here, he is settled and enjoys being part of a good dressing room.
“Although he is only 23 he has a good amount of experience and he is a key player for us and this signing is big news for the club and our supporters.
“We believe we are having an excellent summer transfer window and Shaun’s re-signing was an important part of our planning.
“We are delighted he is staying a Cobbler.”
