Ex Gillingham Apprentice Sean Clohessy has become the eighth player to sign pre-contract terms with Southend United this summer after agreeing a two-year deal.
The 23 year old full-back signed terms with Bath City just two weeks ago but the deal was scrapped by mutual consent.
Clohessy will not be able to finalise his Shrimpers move until a transfer embargo is lifted on the Club.
Last season he made 39 Blue Square Premier appearances for Salisbury City, scoring twice.
The right-back started his career at Gillingham and went on to play 43 times for the Kent Club, before heading to Salisbury on loan for nine months in September 2008.
The short-term deal became a permanent one that summer when he was released by the Gills.
