Cherries Youth Team Receive Boost For Charity

AFC Bournemouth’s apprentices attempts to raise money for the epidermolysis bullosa charity DEBRA has received a massive boost with a £1,000 donation from the club’s first-team squad.

Impressed with the youngsters’ efforts, Eddie Howe’s players decided to help out with a sizeable contribution to the cause.

The latest donation takes the youth team’s total to just over £4,000, putting them within touching distance of their target.

“Everyone at the club has been really impressed by what the youth team have done,” captain Tommy Elphick said.

“They are a credit to the club and it was important to us that we showed our support as well.”

Each of the youth team players, along with Joe Roach and Carl Fletcher, shaved their heads earlier this week to raise awareness and funds towards their £5,000 target.

The idea started after the squad met six-year-old Mason White, who suffers from the incurable skin disease EB.

Touched by his bravery, the boys set about raising some money and collected more than £3,000 in just a few weeks.
