Colchester United Apprentice Tom Bender has put pen to paper to sign a two and a half year professional contract with the U’s.
The teenage defender signed his new deal yesterday on the day of his 17th birthday to make it a day to remember.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd was in attendance as the highly rated left-footer put pen to paper to secure his future with the Essex side.
And he was delighted to have signed up the promising defender, Aidy told the Club’s official website:
“One of the things a Club like ours has to rely on is its youth policy. Tom is yet another player to come off our production line.”
“We were keen to tie him up, because he is a player who has already been training regularly with the first team and is a really bright prospect.”
Tom became the second youngest player to represent the Club, when he made his debut against Hartlepool United in Aidy Boothroyd’s first home game in September of last year.
