Peterborough United’s Director of football Barry Fry has revealed that the Posh are set to break their transfer record to complete the signing of Ryan Bennett from Grimsby Town.
The 19 year old who came through the Apprenticeship programme at Grimsby, has made 10 appearances since moving to London Road on loan at the end of October and will sign on full-time today for a fee which will eclipse the £400,000 paid to Norwich for goalkeeper Joe Lewis two years ago.
Speaking to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, Fry said:
“Ryan’s deal goes through on Friday. It is a record transfer for the club and there are also sorts of add-ons in there as well – things like helping Posh into the Premier League and him going on to play for England. If everything in the deal were to happen it could cost us £1million.”
