Bury have appointed Youth Team Boss Richie Barker as their new manager.
Barker who only joined the club’s youth department last summer took temporary charge of the side in March after Alan Knill left to go to Scunthorpe Utd.
With the help of the club’s senior players Ryan Lowe, Efe Sodje, Steven Schumacher and Ben Futcher, the 36-year-old guided the Shakers to six wins in his last eight games to seal promotion to League One.
Neil McDonald had widely been expected to come in however he elected to join Sam Allardyce at West Ham Utd when that appointment was confirmed last night.
