Askew At The Double For Tranmere

Daren Askew hit a double as Tranmere Rovers moved into the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup with a 4-1 win at Prescot Cables.

Rovers who fell out of The Football League last season, fell behind but quickly equalised through Askew before Tom Croughan’s back-post finish put them ahead.

Tolani Omotola’s dummy then set-up Askew’s second before Omotola netted a fourth goal to seal Rovers passage into the first round where they will face Carlisle.

Cheltenham Town, also relegated from League Two last term are also through to the first round proper after a 2-0 win over Gosport Borough.

Luke Thomas and Karnell Chambers bagged the goals and the Robins will now welcome Swindon Town in the next round.
