County In Quandary Over Moloney

Notts County have admitted that they would like to resurrect a deal for young Nottingham Forest defender Brendan Moloney if they can secure major investment in the Club.

The right-back, a graduate of Forest’s impressive Youth system, moved to Meadow Lane on loan in the summer, a spell which expired on December 28th.

The Magpies were keen to keep Moloney but their financial problems meant they were unable to afford to buy the 20 year old outright while Forest are keen to aid the player’s development by loaning him to a Club in a higher division than League Two.

“Brendan is definitely a player we would like but I don’t know what Forest want to do with him,” said County executive chairman Peter Trembling.

“I am not currently in a position to talk to (Forest Chief Executive) Mark Arthur because I haven’t got any money to put on the table for him, whether that be for an extension of the loan or transfer.”
