Beevers Gives Owls A Boost

Mark Beevers

Sheffield Wednesday were boosted by news that defender Mark Beevers has not suffered knee ligament damage and the Owls spirits were further lifted by news he could return to action on Saturday.

The 19 year old former Apprentice of the Year was stretchered off during last week’s home defeat by Middlesbrough following a collision with his own goalkeeper Lee Grant and missed the derby loss to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

But scans have revealed Beevers has suffered no lasting damage to his shin or knee and he returned to light training at the start of the week with a view to joining the rest of the first-team squad in time for the weekend clash with Cardiff.

Owls manager Brian Laws has received more good news this week with two more central defenders, Richard Wood and Richard Hinds, both returning to training.
