Evans To Return To Moss Rose

Gareth Evans

Gareth Evans is looking forward to his return to the Moss Rose ground for the first time this Saturday following his summer move to Bradford City.

The ASE graduate hopes to be in the starting eleven against his former team mates after scoring the winner in last weekend’s Bantams victory over Hereford United.

But the Macclesfield born player says it will be with mixed emotions.

“I hope people believe me when I say that the Moss Rose will always be a special place for me,” explained Gareth.

“I made a lot of good friends during my time at the Club and will never forget the faith that was shown in me. So it was the first fixture I looked out for.”

Evans completed his two year Apprenticeship at Crewe, who released him in 2007. He then joined Macclesfield in July 2007 and scored 19 goals at Moss Rose before moving to Bradford this summer.

He continued:

“I hope people understand the reason for moving. I’m a young lad and the chance to move to Bradford and play in front of over ten thousand people, week in, week out was too good a chance to turn down.”

“But I’m fully expecting to get some stick as most players returning to their old Club tend to get some flak.”

Bradford City will play Macclesfield Town on Saturday at the Moss Rose, kick-off is at 3pm.
