Eastham Heads Out On Loan

Cheltenham Town have signed Ashley Eastham on loan from Blackpool for a month.

The 18 year old defender has come through the North West Club’s Youth system and has already enjoyed a successful loan spell at Hyde United earlier this term.

On his return to the Club the youngster was thrust into first team action in the Seasiders Carling Cup squad that took on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium and he earned rave reviews with a strong performance against James Beattie and Ricardo Fuller.

Three days after making his senior debut the Preston-born defender made his League debut when he came off the bench after just 18 minutes to replace Neal Eardley in the Seasiders 2-0 win over Peterborough United.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway said,

“This is a great move for Ash, we only have one Reserve game between now and the new year and he will go there and be involved in their first team set up and will get some football under his belt.”

“It is another step up for him, he did extremely well when he went to Hyde at the start of the season and this will be another challenge for him both on and off the field.”

“We will monitor his progress closely and I am sure he is looking forward to pitting his wits week in-week out in the Football League.”
